Madden NFL 08 for the Xbox 360 Game Review

November 28, 2007 | Filed Under Game Reviews | No Comments

After playing Madden NFL 08 I came to the conclusion that it was pretty good. Compared to Madden 07 it is heaven (07 sucked). The Xbox version is much better than the PS3 one, I must say.

First I will let you know what I did not like about this game (save the best for last). One thing missing in this game is online gameplay. I think it would work very well in this game and its omission is sad.

Assassin’s Creed for the Xbox 360 Game Review

Assassin’s Creed was released amidst plenty of hype. After playing the game, I felt that it lived up to the hype. I was transported to Gamer Heaven. The setting of this game is pretty original. The place is the holy land and the time period is several hundred years ago.

Why did I enjoy this game so much? First the background on which the game is built is fantastic. The landscape takes your breath away. You get to travel on the terrain on a horse, which is not too difficult to obtain.

Call of Duty 4 for Xbox 360 Game Review

November 19, 2007 | Filed Under Game Reviews | No Comments

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is much more appealing than the earlier installments. The reason is simple. It is set in the present day, not in WW2 like the earlier versions.

I would go as far as to say that it is the best among all the versions of this game. As a first person shooter game, it scores the highest to my mind compared to other such games. The production values are fantastic and the multiplayer mode is brilliant. Great graphics and visual presentation add up to make this a great all round game. I loved the sound too.

Sharper controls and good multiplayer mode are enough for me to recommend this game. The only big drawback in this game is an extremely short single player campaign. If you are not a multiplayer buff this is likely to be a major drawback. Even so, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is definitely the best game of this series.

Saints Row for Xbox 360 Game Review

For those who like their games to be completely original, Saints Row will disappoint. For those who just want to have pure fun, Saints Row is the game for them. There are many improvements over the previous games in the GTA series. Older gamers will love it, I think.

The graphics are great. The way the characters are presented, the realistic explosions are simply amazing. The weather, lighting and reflections look great when you consider that the loading time is negligible.

BioShock was released amidst a great deal of hype. Did it live up to it? In my eyes, yes mostly it did. I would rate it as one of the best games for the Xbox 360 ever. Here’s why.

The setting in which the game is played is brilliant and so is the atmosphere surrounding it. The story has you glued to the screen and it can only be described as extremely engaging. It could compete with an RPG anyday.

Halo 3 for Xbox 360 Game Review

November 9, 2007 | Filed Under Game Reviews | No Comments

The disadvantage of being a sequel – movie or game is great. Halo 3 will always be judged against the fantastic experience of the original. If you saw Jurassic Park and then went through the sequels, you know how you feel like you have been there before.

The positives are that Halo 3 has been created for the Xbox 360. The detailing in background and foreground is pretty impressive. The background music goes well with the main story. If you like funny dialogues, you are going to like the dialogues of Halo 3. Read more

Lego Star Wars II Review

November 7, 2007 | Filed Under Game Reviews | No Comments

Some heinous things have been done to the Star Wars franchise in the last decade or so. The Phantom Menace, for instance. The original Lego Star Wars game from Traveller’s Tales was a huge surprise. They’d remembered what it had seemed so easy to forget: Star Wars was supposed to be about fun. With Lego Star Wars II being based on the ‘second’ three movies, there’s even more potential for laughs, especially for thirty-something nostalgia junkies.

The combination of Star Wars and Lego is inherently funny anyway. Hitting things with your lightsaber and watching them disintegrate into their component Lego bricks should make anyone smile. This time you get what we wanted since we saw the first game. Lego Han Solo Lego-swaggering about with a cocky smirk on his little yellow face. Lego Princess Leia in the gold bikini. Read more

Viva Piñata Game Review

November 7, 2007 | Filed Under Game Reviews | No Comments

Rare’s Viva Pinata for the Xbox 360 looks like a kids’ game. The graphics are bright and seemingly simple, the piñatas are cute and cartoony, and the game is based on a children’s cartoon. It’s one of those games, though, that if you take the controller to ‘help out’ for a minute, Junior will still be kicking you in the ankle trying to get it back three hours later.

Viva Pinata is a sort of collecting/resource management/strategy/god game. It’s like a chocolately collision of The Sims and Neopets. While it starts out simply and has a nicely-managed learning curve, as you level up the game becomes progressively more complicated to manage, which may leave some children (and some not-so-children) frustrated. It uses all the usual devices to get you emotionally attached to your piñatas too, so failures could bring tears. Then again, there’s a subtle but definite undercurrent of disturbing in the game too, which has definite adult appeal. Read more
