Beautiful Katamari: Roll On

Namco Bandai has come up with another strange winner. Beautiful Katamari on the Xbox is better than the one you’ve seen in PS2. Using the left and right analog sticks is easily mastered but lends itself to a load of fun. The whole enjoyment of this odd game is in the wacky objects you roll up with your Katamari as you gather mass and strength. With an out of the ordinary soundtrack, you will find yourself bouncing to the beat as Katamari rumbles into newer, stranger, and bigger environments. The basic premise is that the King of All Cosmos has messed up the galaxy mightily during an off-handed game of tennis and you must put it right again by repopulating the cosmos with the detritus found in your way.
Beautiful Katamari has a couple of modes that achieve varying degrees of success. The co-op mode is a bit frustrating as you and another player control the ball in tandem with the two analog sticks. A lot of starting and stopping ends up confusing you so it is best to leave this mode at rest. Another mode is the battle mode where you compete with another ball to pick up objects. This is a lot more enjoyable when you decide to be a PIA and bash into the other just to shake stuff loose. Luckily, the live online mode has the leader board where you amass cookies and other goodies and the leader board adds up everything and places you amongst the others online. This is the real fun of Beautiful Katamari.
Everything about this game will bring a grin to your face whether you are a seasoned gamer or a newbie. A fine addition to your gaming library.
