Bioshock For Xbox 360 Game Review

BioShock was released amidst a great deal of hype. Did it live up to it? In my eyes, yes mostly it did. I would rate it as one of the best games for the Xbox 360 ever. Here’s why.

The setting in which the game is played is brilliant and so is the atmosphere surrounding it. The story has you glued to the screen and it can only be described as extremely engaging. It could compete with an RPG anyday.

The game is set in an underwater city called Rapture. You are suddenly put in the middle of the action and the excitement catches on very fast.

You get to be the hero of the day who must set things right using traditional weapons as well as quirky abilities.

The other exciting thing about this game is that you can customize characters as you please. This gets you more involved in the game and is great fun since in part you get to be the maker of the plot.

Overall the game is fantastic from the voice acting and sound design to the dark atmosphere.

Now to the downsides. The enemies are very similar to each other and much has not been done to develop their individuality. The gamer has an easy time with the game which is a little too forgiving.

To compare Bioshock to Halo 3, one finds that both have their virtues. Halo 3 uses miles of “real geometry” which is absent in BioShock. In addition the surfaces are too shiny and this is a turn off. The “moral choices” in this game are a bit of a bore as well.

Still, there is much more good than bad in this game and I would recommend it highly.
