Crash of the Titans: How the Mighty Have Fallen

Crash Bandicoot reappears in this game and his past history dictates the story line to the detriment of the entire game. The cast of characters hasn’t moved the action forward in the least. Dr. Neo Cortex is the villain again and this fact only makes the engagements less interesting because you are acquainted with him from previous versions. Cortex again has megalomaniacal plans to conquer the world and you must take arms to prevent him.
How well you succeed depends on your prowess with “jacking” the large monsters and turning them to your own purposes.
Taking an animal husbandry clue from Avatar, Crash of the Titans combines different species into one entity much the same as people are crossbreeding dogs into interesting blends. A scorporilla is the juxtaposition of a scorpion and a gorilla which makes for an intriguing fighting foe except for the fact that most of the monsters are virtually interchangeable with no real differentiation in their fighting skills so that you find your fighting spirit leaking slowly out as you progress into the game.
Your basic task is to rid the world of the numerous monsters blocking you from infiltrating Cortez’s inner circle so that you can keep him from taking over the world. Power-ups are extremely effective and you will need an extra boost against some of these ogres.
Crash of the Titans has a detailed look in all of the characters and backgrounds, slightly cartoonish but sharp except for some blur motion problems. This game is a worthwhile addition to the series but be warned that you may grow weary of the worn story line and the repetitive combat.
