Metal Slug 3 for the Xbox 360 Game Review

January 10, 2008 | Filed Under Game Reviews | No Comments

The Metal Slug series of action games has been a money spinner for SNK for some time now. It has been released for various home consoles as a compilation and stand alone as well. Metal Slug 3 is perhaps the best game in the series and has fresh ideas and is a great story.

If you want this on your Xbox Live Arcade, it will cost you 800 points or $10. Although this is a high price for a seven year old arcade game on your Xbox, you will still find yourself playing it again and again. There are great boss fights as well as great fight sequences.

This game is not the kind you can play for hours on end, it is actually quite short. The replayability factor of this game is quite high though. Interesting weapons, groups of enemies and slugs are there to thrash out.

The Xbox Live Arcade is not very different from the earlier versions. The detail in Metal Slug 3 is intact and the visuals are excellent. There is filtering that has been done on the game and the pixelated edges are no more. Enemy soldiers do not bleed red.

Upto two players can play with local and online support. One issue with these games is the pronounced frame rate in the two player version and the online version experiences lag.

You may not enjoy Metal Slug 3 if you have played it on other systems and there are no peripheral extras, but if you are new to the game you will enjoy it.
