Recycled-America’s Army: True Soldiers

Sometimes you, as a consumer, find products that are produced merely by recycling older versions with just a slight change. If the maker improves on the original even slightly, you might a modicum of satisfaction. Not so in the case of America’s Army: True Soldiers. They have taken Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter and made it worse. The characters are not realistic at all and the jeeps and other vehicles move so slowly that you can anticipate every movement. This makes for bad game play. The explosions sound muffled as thought they are coming through a blanket. A total lack of excitement is the real downfall in America’s Army: True Soldiers—there are no compelling story lines, no urgent missions, and no realistic progression to the action. Everything is chopped up like it was cut and pasted with no thought for continuity.

What could be good about this travesty of a war game? Well, perhaps the multi-player mode that actually takes some teamwork and strategy to succeed on the missions but the graphics and response times are still sub par so the total experience is frustrating at best.

As for online activity, dream on. If you can find one or possibly two players to compete with, you will be lucky. What you should do is engage those two in a game of Call of Duty: 4. This will be infinitely more satisfying.
